Gobs Basenet - Founder
Gobardhan, commonly known as Gobs, is one of the two founders of Trek Nepal Int’l. Having worked for five years as a guide himself, Gobs saw a need for a locally-owned and operated trekking company that would bring international standards to Nepal’s trekking sector. He and his partner, Resham Bal, started Trek Nepal Int’l 17 years ago, and with nearly 42 years of accumulated experience between them, success was the only option! Operating a simple but extremely smart business model, Trek Nepal Int’l has grown significantly every year. Gobs’ desire is to ensure that Trek Nepal Int’l maintains its high quality of services and stays true to its mission of promoting socially and environmentally sound projects. When Gobs is not busy with Trek Nepal, he can be found practicing Vipassana mediation, which he encourages others to try.
Resham Bal - Founder
One of the senior members of Trek Nepal Int'l, Resham brings an enthusiasm and excitement to whatever he does. He is the man who makes things happen. With more than 24 years of experience in the trekking industry, Resham not only has the expertise, but the heart and leadership to make your experience with Trek Nepal Int’l unforgettable. Resham has extensive experience leading peak climbing excursions (he has taken clients up to 7,500m), mountain biking adventures, and motorcycle tours in both India and Nepal. He holds certificates in Outdoor Wilderness Safety, First Aid Emergency Response and is fluent in English, Hindi, Nepali, and Tamang. A world-traveler with a passion for outdoor cooking, Resham looks forward to seeing you in Nepal very soon!
Sabina Munikar - Manager
Sabina is key to everything! Kathmandu native, Sabina Munikar works hard to ensure that your trip runs as smoothly as possible. She recently graduated from the Public Youth Campus with her Bachelors in Business Management and is keen to improve her business and communication skills. When she’s not diligently working at the Trek Nepal Int'l office, she can be found venturing to new places and learning more about the tourism industry in Nepal.
Sachin Tamang - Accountant
Joining the team in 2012, Sachin first started working as office assistant. He then developed his interest to work as an account assistant helping with filing receipts, keeping records in system, deposits and withdrawl, etc. Now his abilities to handle accountancy are well appreciated. He maintains all the books of accounts and handles the financial section efficiently.
Laxman Karki - Head guide
Laxman is one of the most experienced guides working for Trek Nepal Int’l. With 14 years of accumulated experience, Laxman brings a passion and vision to his work. Like many of our guides at Trek Nepal Int’l, Laxman started out as a porter, learning the ropes, and slowly worked his way into a head guide position. He holds a number of certificates from reputable institutions such as a Leadership and Trekking Certificate from the government of Nepal, he is First Aid certified, and has two language certificates from Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP). Laxman says that the best part of his job is spending time with people from different cultures and getting to spend time with them in his favourite place - the mountains of Nepal.
Fatta Khatri - Guide
Fatta is 31 years old and has been working with Trek Nepal Int’l for nearly five years. Coming from the central Nepali town of Nawalbarsi, Phata came to work for Trek Nepal Int’l with nearly 11 years of previous guiding experience. Phata holds several certificates such as an English Language Proficiency Diploma, an Expert Leadership Skill Qualification, and basic First Aid training. Phata claims the best part about his job as a trekking guide is being able to share Nepal’s history and culture with people from all over the world. He also loves learning new things from Trek Nepal’s clients.
Big Raj Tamang - Guide
Big Raj is another very experienced member of the guiding team at Trek Nepal Int'l, with over 5 years of experience in the company. He says the best thing about being a guide is that he is able to do what he absolutely loves. He enjoys making friends with his clients and gets satisfaction out of seeing others experience joy and happiness. He holds four different certificates from Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP) that include; English language proficiency, Leadership Skills, Eco-friendly Guiding Certificate from the Trekking Association of Nepal (TAAN), and First Aid.
Keshar Karki - Guide
Keshar, like many other guides working at Trek Nepal Int’l, hails from the Solokhumbu region of Nepal. He came to Trek Nepal Int’l three years ago with four years of guiding experience from other companies. Keshar has a Governmental Sanctified Guiding Certification, basic First Aid training, and an English language certificate from the U.S. Military in Iraq, where he worked as military support for three years. Keshar’s greatest joy comes from taking clients to the Everest region; he says he loves to learn from different people who come to Nepal while teaching them a thing or two about his native land. When he is not busy guiding, Keshar enjoys staying fit and working out at the gym, as well as keeping his mind fit by continuing his studies
Ganesh Karki - Guide
Ganesh grew up in the Solokhumbu area, or rather, the infamous Everest region of Nepal. He came to work for Trek Nepal Int’l four years ago with two and half years of guiding experience from another company. His love of trekking and mountaineering started at a young age and Ganesh works constantly to improve his skills as a guide. Ganesh holds a Guiding License from the Government of Nepal, basic First Aid, and two English language diplomas from Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP). Ganesh’s favourite place to trek is the Gokyo Lakes in the Solokhumbu region of Nepal.
Pramod Karki - Guide
Pramod is a native of the Everest region and has been working with Trek Nepal Int’l for five years. Having acquired previous experience in other companies, Pramod was keen to join the Trek Nepal guiding team. He is one of our assistant guides and holds certificates from Kathmandu Environmental Education Project in English language proficiency and First Aid Emergency Response. When Pramod is not trekking the Himalayas, he can be found at Saraswati College of Kathmandu where he is seeking a Bachelors of Business Studies, specializing in Economics. His passion for the mountains and experiencing the world’s cultures makes Pramod an exceptional guide for your trip into the Himalayas. Pramod Lama - Guide
Pramod is from the Karve district of Nepal, which lies just east of the capital, Kathmandu. He joined Trek Nepal Int’l four years ago. Pramod has recently earned a B.A. in Humanities from Manabikia College of Kathmandu. While studying, Pramod attended a number of trainings where he received the following certificates: Guiding License from the Government of Nepal, First Aid Emergency Response, and a Rock Climbing Diploma from Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP). While completing his undergraduate degree he also studied environmentally friendly tourism practices as well as English as a second language. Pramod’s favourite place to trek is in the eastern part of Nepal, where one can find Mt. Kanganjunga, the world’s third highest mountain.
Sandesh Tamang - Guide
Sandesh Tamang hails from Rasuwa District, Langtang Region. Having been a guide for more than 5 years, he has extensive knowledge of the local terrain. Sandesh has worked his way up from a porter to a licensed guide and is utterly in love with mountains, his home town and his family!
Kiran Bal - Guide
Kiran came to Trek Nepal Int'l eight years ago. Having already accumulated five years of trekking and guiding experience, Trek Nepal was eager for Kiran to come on board. He hails from Hetauda. His passion for being in the mountains could not be diminished, and he has sought out trainings and certificates to improve his craft. Kiran holds a guiding license from the Government of Nepal and First Aid Emergency Response from Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP). He desires to improve the mountain communities of his home region and in his free time works on ways to bring prosperity and growth to local communities.
Raman Tamang - Guide
Raman Tamang is from Kavre District. He started working with Trek Nepal from 2013 as a porter then was promoted to an assistant guide - he is now a fully registered guide. He has English Language Training and First Aid Training from KEEP. His calm, comforting nature and knowledge is very much appreciated by our trekkers. He also loves to sing, dance and mimic Nepalese actors.
Gyan Bahadur - Guide
Gyan Bahadur is a reliable experienced guide from Solukhumbu Region. He started working with us more than 10 years ago as a porter/ assistant guide. His happy personality and good knowledge in our trekking areas make him a great guide and his knowledge will make your trek a lasting memory for you!
Radha Sherpa - Guide
Hailing from Sankhuwashava district, Radha has worked with Trek Nepal as a female guide for the past three years. Seeing trekkers visiting her hometown, she developed an interest in tourism. Gradually after finishing her education, she joined Trek Nepal Int’l from being a porter to assistant guide and then to a guide. With good experience in the trekking and expedition field she has gained great knowledge. Her smiling and happy attitude together with her knowledge and interest in nature ensures that your trek and expedition will be a memorable one!
Subhadra Tamang - Office administrator
Subhadra is from Kavre District. Having started working fresh in the tourism field she wants to improve her English and communication skills. Sorting files, making permits and arranging vehicle/transportation is her main responsibility here in Trek Nepal.
Manoj Karki - Online Coordinator
Manoj has been working with Trek Nepal since 2015 as an office assistant. He is the one who welcomes you at the airport and drops you at your hotel, makes your trekking permit and handles all office needs. He's the ultimate make-it-happen man. Every place needs a Manoj and if you drop by the office he'll help you to get your Nepalese SIM Card, change your money, find a hotel at the last minute, get your pictures for permits, etc. He will be your guide to get around Thamel - better than a Lonely Planet!
