Langtang is one of the closest trekking destinations to Kathmandu. Trekking in this region offers an unparalleled combination of natural beauty and cultural riches. Previously a restricted area near the Tibetan border, the unexplored regions of the Langtang National park has recently been developed into the Tamang Heritage Trail. The people in this area are mostly of Tamang and Tibetan origin, whose culture goes back hundreds of years.
Day 1: Kathmandu
Arrive in Kathmandu. Transfer to hotel.
At Kathmandu International Airport, you will be met by a Trek Nepal representative and transferred to your hotel. There will be a full tour briefing in the evening. Permit sort out day.
Day 2: Syabru Besi
Drive to Syabru Besi (8-9hrs) Alt. 1,460m / 4,788ft.
We drive northwards out of the Kathmandu Valley to Trisuli Bazaar until we arrive at Syabru Besi, a Sherpa village where we stay the night. En route we pass through a number of villages many clinging to valley ridges, and there are spectacular views of the Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himalayan range.
Day 3: Ghatlang
Trek to Ghatlang Alt. 2238m/7340ft. (5hrs)
Following a high trail, we pass through terraces and bamboo massifs. We cross Syarpagaon to continue through a fine forest, alive with birds and the occasional troupe of monkeys to Gatlang. Gatlang is set high on a hillside among terraced fields is a Tamang settlement. One can visit a Tamang monastery and beautiful Parvatikunda Lake at Gatlang.
Day 4: Tatopani
Trek to Tatopani Alt. 2,607m / 8,550ft. (5 1/2 hrs)
En route we can enjoy Langtang ranges mountains and Ganesh Himal. Upon arrival at Tatopani, time is available to relax and soak in hot springs with amazing backdrop views of Langtang ranges mountain. It is believed that taking a dip into this spring will heal you from your aches and pains.
Day 5: Thuman
Trek to Thuman Alt. 2,338m / 7,668ft. (5 1/2 hrs)
After breakfast we start our trek. En route we may encounter animals like monkeys and deer and the panoramic view of Langtang, Kerung, Ganesh Hima and Sanjen ranges can be distinctly experienced. Thuman is another cultural village popular for its Shamanic performances and beautiful view of Langtang.
Day 6: Timure
Day 05 - Trek to Timure (optional short hike to Rasuwagadhi) Alt. 1,762m / 5,779ft. (5hrs)
Timure is on the old trade route to Tibet. Optional short hike to Rasuwagadhi (Nepal – Tibet Border) then back to the campside.
Day 7: Briddim
Trek to Briddim Alt. 2,229m / 7,311ft. (5hrs)
Today is an easy and pleasant walk through yak meadows. After lunch, the trail continues to Briddim, another Tibetan-influenced Tamang village which is the unique experience of home stay during the entire trek. We enjoy traditional foods, like plain rice, Tibetan bread, Syakpa (Sherpa Stew), potato, Tibetan tea and regular tea. As a visitor, you can also observe the local indoor rituals and cultural practices with the host family and go on village walks to see the lifestyle, traditions and customs of the people.
Day 8: Syabru Besi
Trek to Syabru Besi Alt. 1,460m / 4,788ft. (2hrs)
Today is our final day of walking. We descend through the terraced field and pine forest with the tranquil view of the valley to Syabrubesi from where we drive back to Kathmandu.
Day 9: Kathmandu
Drive back to Kathmandu (8-9hrs)
After breakfast, we drive back to Kathmandu.
On your return to Kathmandu, you are free to further explore the city and its shops or simply chill out.
