| The Langtang region, situated north of Kathmandu Valley is a highland inhabited by Sherpas & Tamangs. Like the Everest region it is predominately Buddhist territory often marked with peaceful prayer flags & memorial chortens (Buddhist temples). Trekking in Langtang takes you over the 4080m Ganja-La pass with snowy peaks to the north & the green hills to the south.
Go directly to Langtang on a bus ride, or trek via Helambu where the hospitality of friendly & beautiful Sherpas awaits you. The latter would lead you to the shores of the holy lakes, Gosainkund, a sacred place of Lord Shiva. The legend has it that this water is channeled to Kumbeshwar Temple in Patan. |
