In the western part of the country, Humla & Rara lie in the remote Karnali region, northwest of Kathmandu. Humla is the highest, most remote and northerly region in Nepal lying on the Tibetan border. The region’s main town, Simikot, can only be reached by walking or flying due to the absence of paved roads. Life for the Humli people can be challenging as the agricultural seasons in these high mountain valleys are short and the winters long and severe.

The Rara region is made up of long ridges covered by temperate forests and alpine pastures. The trail is very much “off the beaten track” and affords glimpses of culture and scenery very different to those in the rest of the country. The center piece of the park is the biggest lake in Nepal. Along mountain paths and a series of picturesque villages, one reaches the magnificent banks of Rara Lake.

Limi Valley is wide and wonderful and embraces beautiful, untouched and pure villages. You will sleep in authentic, small Buddhist villages and camp in amazing spots surrounded by snow- capped mountains. Along the trail you will be enchanted by Hindu & Buddhists temples, shrines & religious sacred places.

This landscape of high peaks, cut through by green valleys, turbulent rivers and forests of rhododendrons, teeming with wildlife, make trekking in this region an extremely rewarding and rejuvenating experience.
