Rolwaling Trek

Difficulty:

Strenuous trekking to altitudes of 3000 m/10000 ft - 4000 m/13000 ft for up to 7 hours a day, sometimes including excursions or pass crossings up to 5000 m/16500 ft. Some pre-trek training is advisable. Hill walking experience, a reasonably fit body and good stamina are essential for these kinds of treks.

Rolwaling valley lies on the original expedition route to Mt. Everest & is one of the classic & highly virgin trekking routes of Nepal. After the opening of Parchermo (6187 m.) as a trekking peak, mountaineers could be seen following this section. The trek through the Rolwaling valley is one of the truly "off-the-beaten-track" travel experiences.

This classic trek combined with a real climbing experience (better if you are a climber) begins with a 2 hr. drive from Kathmandu to the village of Charikot. Passing through the Rolwaling valley you climb the Parchermo & cross the Tashi Labtsa to the Khumbu valley.

Day 1 - Arrival in Kathmandu. We meet you at Trek Nepal's sales office at 5 PM for pre-trip briefing at the same time you will also have an opportunity to meet your travel group before the final departure.
Day 2 - Optional sightseeing around the Kathmandu valley while we are making trekking permit & rest of the day is for trek preparation.
Day 3 - Drive by bus to Dolaka Alt. 1,650m / 5,412ft. (5hrs)
Day 4 - Trek to Shigati Alt. 1,020m / 3,345ft. (5 1/2 hrs)
Day 5 - Trek to Gongar Alt. 1,350m / 10,004ft. (6hrs)
Day 6 - Trek to Simigaon Alt. 1,990m / 6,527ft. (5hrs)
Day 7 - Trek to Gyalche/Donga Alt. 2,800m / 9,184ft. (6hrs)
Day 8 - Trek to Beding Alt. 3,680m / 12,070ft. (5 1/2 hrs)
Day 9 - Acclimatization day at Beding

Cost Excludes:

  • International air fare to/ from Nepal.
  • Lunch and dinner prior to the trek, please allow US$ 20 per day.
  • Meals at airports and whilst in Kathmandu/ Pokhara - allow $20 per day.
  • Entry Visa fees - at present $25 for 15 day & US$ 40 for 30 day visa on entry in Nepal.
  • Insurance which covers, medical, emergency evacuation, lost, theft expenses.
  • Drinks; both alcoholic and bottled other than sterilized drinking water.
  • Laundry fee.
  • All the foods and beverages other than the itinerary. 
  • Personal gears and expenses.
  • Tips and gratitude provided to staffs.
