A classic Tibetan journey over the vast arid desert known as the Tibetan Plateau, connects the mystical worlds of Lhasa and Kathmandu. Our tour provides an excellent insight to the devotion of extraordinary people who weather the country’s political turbulence and harsh living conditions of one of the most remote regions in the world.

This tour is a cultural feast of highlights both in Lhasa and on the Tibetan plateau. We commence our tour with a visit to the historical Samye, Tibet’s first monastery, and experience its tranquil atmosphere. Returning to the capital of Lhasa, home to the Dalia Lamas, we explore the city that is Tibet’s heart and soul with visits to; the unforgettable landmark of the city, Potala Palace with its incredible architecture and history; Jokhang temple, with its exuberant activities both within and around the monastery; and the monasteries of Drepung and Sera. Leaving Lhasa behind, we pass over five high passes before leaving the plateau, which takes us through the dramatic, yet breathtaking landscape of snow-capped mountains, by the serene turquoise waters of Yamdrok Lake, and through villages and small nomadic settlements. We will visit Gyantse - Kumbum chorten, with its extraordinary paintings and sculptures dating back to the 15th century, and Shigatse - where we stroll around the intriguing complex of the Tashilhumpo Monastery. An undeniable highlight is the journey to Rongbuk valley to see the sun rise over the majestic north face of Everest.
